A printmaker's toolkit

Five free tools for linocut, woodcut and woodblock printmaking. They work out the ink mixes, turn a photo into a carve-ready block, plan a reduction print, set up registration so the paper lands in the same place twice, and keep a log of every edition. Everything runs in your browser and saves to your own machine.

Mixing Slab

Pick a colour and get the recipe for mixing it from the inks you actually own — in parts, in percentages, and in grams for your batch. Calibrate it to your own tubes, then keep the mixes that worked.

What this is

These are tools one printmaker built for their own bench, shared because they might save you the same trouble. They are free, and they will stay free.

There are no accounts and no sign-ups. Nothing is tracked, there is no analytics of any kind, and no part of this site calls out to anyone else's server — not even for the fonts. Your recipes, logs and settings are saved in your own browser and never leave your machine, which also means clearing your browser data clears them, so export anything that matters.

Each tool installs to a phone or tablet home screen and keeps working with no signal, which is the normal state of most sheds.

There are also some working notes — how deep a kento notch should be, how to plan a reduction linocut, and why paper drifts out of register.

Get in touch

These tools are made by one printmaker and shaped by what people tell me. If something's broken, confusing, or missing, I'd like to hear about it.

Please say which tool you were using, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead. If it's a display problem, the browser and the phone or computer you're on helps enormously.
